Description: Exploring the remains of the abandoned Parramore Ghost Town, a riverboat town in Northern Florida. Below is a little history: In 1821, the first American settlers arrived and Parramore was first named "The Owens' Settlement". The town was situated along the Chattahoochee River where they had a riverboat landing and farmed cotton and tobacco. During the Civil War, it was renamed "Bellview". One of the riverboats capsized causing a temporary economic downfall. Years after the Civil War, more modern steamboats were introduced to the river along with some more riverboat landings, and it was then renamed "Parramore" after an owner of one of the landings. Parramore farmed cotton and tobacco, operated a grist mill and manufactured turpentine, had a blacksmith shop along with a timber industry. Three churches, stores and schools also served the once-booming town. By the early 1920s, Parramore was in its peak. But then after new modes of transportation were introduced such as rail and paved roads, commerce started to decline in Parramore. This was followed by the 1918 swine flu pandemic that wiped out whole towns. The south went into the Great Depression earlier than other areas, and by 1920, the town was starting to diminish. Barely holding on, World War 2 marked the end of Parramore as many did not return from the war. In the video, I have visited all I could find remaining of Parramore Ghost Town; a dilapidated church and old cemetery, another church that is used as a memorial, an abandoned house (outside only) and a monument of the old school including the now desolate main road. I hope you enjoy! :) Thanks for subscribing, liking and sharing! :) ▶︎Subscribe 💕bit.ly/2NOam30 🛎
